Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is a holistic and personalized approach to healthcare that seeks to identify and address the underlying causes of disease while fostering overall well-being. Practitioners of functional medicine take a comprehensive view of each patient, carefully analyzing their medical history alongside social, environmental, genetic, and lifestyle factors that influence their health. This science and evidence-based approach often incorporates in-depth laboratory testing to uncover insights, treat the root causes of ailments, and guide patients toward achieving optimal health.

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine respects the wisdom of nature, and the body’s innate ability to heal, while also employing modern science and evidence-based therapies. As with functional medicine, naturopathic medicine also seeks to treat the cause of disease, and there is a focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Naturopathic doctors are trained as primary care physicians and employ a wide range of therapies, including pharmaceuticals, nutrient therapy, herbal medicine, minor office procedures and nutritional, lifestyle and mental health counseling. Naturopathic medicine is based on six principles:

  1. Do no harm

  2. The healing power of nature

  3. Identify and treat the causes

  4. They physician as teacher

  5. Treat the whole person

  6. Prevention
